Built in the Highway 57 Industrial Park, a Woodward Commercial Realty subdivision, this distribution center stands on a redeveloped distressed site, on ground that formerly encompassed a mining operation. The preliminary effort included an environmental study and mitigation plan. Construction used building systems supplied by the Butler Manufacturing Company, including the Butler MR-24®, standing-seam metal roof system. Completed in just eight months, the 500-foot-by-800-foot-by-34-foot distribution facility has 60 dock doors and houses 160 workers.
7500 East Columbia Street, Evansville, IN
This two-story corporate headquarters is located within the 142-acre, mixed-use Cross Pointe Commerce Center. The facility was designed using a package of custom-engineered Butler® systems. The plan provides for 30,000 square feet of finished space, mostly following an open-office floor plan. It can be expanded by 24,000 square feet off each opposing wing, enough to accommodate 300 employees.
The facility features a two-level atrium encased in blue-tinted glass. The lower floor is defined by the atrium, meeting rooms with mockup retail displays, and an employee break room with an outside patio overlooking a retention pond with a water feature. The upper level subdivides into areas for finance, accounting, and executive offices, with outside balconies overlooking the pond. The building has high-efficiency heating and air-conditioning with variable-air-volume air distribution.

Uncommon Elegance – Woodward Conquers Enormous Challenges to Build Beautiful New Location for Ameriprise Financial
Ameriprise Financial – Hayes, Powers and Associates posed an enormous challenge to Woodward Development and Construction, Inc. when it asked the company to build its new location.
“Ameriprise wanted a contemporary building with an old-world feel,” said Nazan Wolfe, assistant vice president, Woodward Development and Construction, Inc. “The interior needed to be conservative, but Ameriprise wanted it to also have a big wow factor. In addition, the Ameriprise logo is blue, but the client preferred green for the interior color scheme.”
With these instructions in mind, Woodward began to plan the new building. For the exterior, Woodward located a different type of brick that is smaller than typical building bricks and has more of a stone finish. This gave the building an old-world feel. To add a contemporary touch, Woodward used copper flashing on top of the building and on the downspouts. For the interior, Woodward identified sample carpets and ceramic that would bring in some of the blue without being too overbearing. To achieve the wow factor that Ameriprise was looking for, Woodward designed a truly unique reception area with a barrel ceiling. Woodward included bulkheads with lighting hidden inside that encircle the entire room and set off the ceiling.
Woodward’s innovative ideas produced a beautiful new location for Ameriprise and a happy client.
"Our experience with Woodward was that the people from top to bottom were very professional,” said Brandon L. Hayes, senior financial advisor, Ameriprise – Hayes, Powers and Associates. “From the design work to the finishing touches, we were impressed with the quality and care that was taken into account. We enjoyed being a major part of the experience and look forward to a long continued relationship."
